Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
